Jonathan Wilson - Jonathan Wilson, News reporter and Assignment editor

Jonathan is a homegrown boy with plenty of miles under his belt.  After graduating from the Radio & TV Broadcasting program at Confederation College, he started out as a part-time reporter at Thunder Bay Television back in 1993.  Wanting to see the world, he left for Sault Ste. Marie and then Timmins, working as a videographer.  Unimpressed with the world, he returned to TBT in 1998 as a reporter.  In 2005, he took a break from television news, but the call of the TV screen was loud and clear.  In 2008, he was back in our newsroom, taking a firm hand as the TBT’s assignment editor and  reporter.

Why does he keep coming back?  Besides the awesome vending machine coffee, Jonathan loves getting the scoop, the big news item of the day.  He’s also a huge fan of the TBT archives which date back to 1979!

But Johnny’s not all about work.  He loves to hit the road for concerts and sporting events.  He sides with Scheffee regarding the Maple Leafs but he’ll also cheer for any team with a Thunder Bay player.

Ironically, when he’s out in the community people don’t ask him about his work at the station.  They’re more interested in … The Price Is Right.  That’s right, our hometown boy played the big game with Bob Barker back in 2000.  Did he win?  We’ll let him answer that:

Here are the 3 most frequent questions I receive about it:

 - I won living room furniture, a brass clock and a robot set playing the "Grocery Game"

 - The I.R.S. charges you 37% of the prizes' value, but I managed to get most of it back because I'm Canadian.

 - CBS ships prizes to anywhere in the U.S., so I had them send everything to Ryden's Store at the Pigeon River border.
